Habla Espanol by Cerebellum Corp. is a good media presentation, but this product lacks the variety of learning tools offered by more complex software products. There is a disclaimer in the beginning of the program which states, "We can't teach you Spanish. In order to fully grasp the Spanish language you have to go to class, read your books, and listen to your professors." From this disclaimer, it is evident that the program does not even claim to teach fluent Spanish. The program is basically a show delivered on a PC. If you only want to view a program with the hope of absorbing the information, this program is for you. Sadly, Habla Espanol does not take advantage of the many powerful teaching tools that a computer has to offer.
The features in Habla Espanol lack variety and are not effective. The program offers a basic learning program including two quizzes and a DVD movie, but frequently the video and speech did not correspond during play. Pausing and restarting the video was an easy remedy, but tedious.
The program is easy to use except for the lack of coordination between the video and speech-constantly fixing this was irritating and time-consuming.

This software covers the fundamentals of the Spanish language and also offers cultural information relating to Spanish.
If watching TV is the most attractive learning model for you, this product would fit your style.
If you are interested in purchasing Spanish language software in the form of a video, I would not recommend purchasing this software program. It would be less expensive to purchase a comparable VHS or DVD Spanish program.
